PWPM Facility Wins USDA Food Waste Challenge

November 29, 2016

The Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market (PWPM), our home, was honored to accept an award for diverting the most food waste from landfills in the USDA’s Terminal Market Food Waste Challenge. On November 14 in Washington, D.C., Dan Kane, General Manager, and Christine Hofmann, Marketing Coordinator, accepted the award on behalf of the PWPM. “We are fully committed to increasing our numbers next year,” said Sonny DiCrecchio, President of PWPM.  “We’re always reviewing our methods on how to reduce our footprint on the environment and donate wholesome produce to people in need.”

John Vena, Inc. is excited to be a part of a market that is unified in its committment to keeping food out of landfills, and we would like to extend a special thanks to the waste management staff who are incredibly dedicated to their work. Great job!
