Methi Leaf

Methi is a clover-like plant that has been cultivated for thousands of years. It grows three dark green leaves to a stem, which can grow up to 20 inches tall.  Occasionally, a yellow flower will sprout from the plant.  The aromatic leaves have a distinct flavor and are scented much like maple syrup.  Contradictory to the smell, the taste is bitter.  Often used in Indian kitchens, the herb is a perfect addition to curries and dahls.  It can also be substituted for leafy greens.  It has been used in Chinese medicine for centuries in women's health and to induce labor.
