Oregano

Oregano is a low growing perennial with small, ovoid, pointed leaves on soft stems. It grows 8 to 20 inches and produces purple flowers in spikes. It is native to the Mediterranean region and is very widely used in Greek and Italian cuisine. It has a strong, slightly bitter flavor and is often thought of as the 'pizza' herb.
